What is Daktacort?

Daktacort provides the convenience of dual-action treatment for skin conditions that involve both inflammation and fungal infection. By combining a mild steroid with an effective antifungal, it can treat infected eczema and inflammatory fungal conditions more effectively than single-ingredient treatments.

Book an online consultation if you have persistent skin conditions that might involve both inflammation and infection, recurring eczema that seems to get infected, or skin problems in warm, moist areas like skin folds. Our GPs can assess whether Daktacort or other combination treatments are appropriate for your specific skin condition.

What is Daktacort used for?

  • Infected eczema
  • Dermatitis with secondary fungal infection
  • Inflamed fungal skin infections
  • Candidal skin infections with inflammation
  • Seborrhoeic dermatitis
  • Intertrigo (skin fold infections)
  • Inflammatory skin conditions with suspected fungal component

How does Daktacort work?

Combines hydrocortisone (a mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, itching, and redness) with miconazole (an antifungal that treats fungal and yeast infections), providing both anti-inflammatory and antifungal action.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Daktacort combine a steroid with an antifungal?

Many skin conditions involve both inflammation and fungal infection. The combination treats both problems simultaneously, providing faster relief than using either ingredient alone.

Can I use Daktacort on my face?

Generally not recommended for facial use as facial skin is thinner and more sensitive to steroids. Use only if specifically prescribed by your GP for facial conditions.

How is Daktacort different from using hydrocortisone and antifungal cream separately?

The combination ensures both ingredients penetrate together and in the right proportions, often providing better results than separate applications.

Can I use Daktacort long-term for recurring eczema?

No, it should only be used for short courses (maximum 7 days). Long-term steroid use can cause skin thinning and other problems.
