Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our Online Consultation Service
What can I request through the Online Consultation Service?
You can request prescriptions, fit notes, and referral letters. Simply book a consultation slot to discuss your symptoms, condition, or requirements with a qualified independent clinician who will make a clinical decision about your treatment.
Are the independent prescribers qualified and registered?
Yes, all the independent prescribers are fully qualified and registered with the GPhC. They are licensed prescribers with extensive experience in clinical assessment and prescribing decisions.
How quickly will I receive my prescription, fit note or referral letter?
Same day service is available for most consultations. After your consultation and clinical assessment, if a prescription, fit note or referral letter is clinically appropriate, it will be issued electronically. Prescriptions are sent to your chosen pharmacy, and fit notes can be downloaded immediately.
Is my consultation confidential and secure?
Absolutely. All consultations are conducted through encrypted video technology with strict GDPR compliance. Your medical information is kept confidential and secure in accordance with UK healthcare regulations and professional standards.
Will my GP be informed about the appointment?
Yes, as part of good clinical practice, we inform your registered GP about any treatment or prescriptions provided by the independent clinicians. This ensures continuity of care and maintains your complete medical record.
What happens if no prescription or fit note is issued?
The clinicians provide a thorough assessment based on your individual needs. If it's determined that a prescription, fit note, or referral letter is not clinically appropriate, you'll still be billed for consulting with the independent clinician.
What does the consultation cost?
The consultation is billed at £49, with an additional administration fee of £20 if you receive a prescription, fit note or referral letter. At the time of booking, we place a card authorisation of £69 — no immediate charge is made. If at least one outcome (prescription, fit note or referral letter) is issued, the authorisation is captured. If none are issued, you’ll only be charged for the consultation. The additional £20 fee will be released back to your card the same day.All payments are securely processed via Stripe.
What conditions can independent prescribers assess?
The independent clinicians can assess a wide range of conditions for prescriptions and fit notes, including acute illnesses, chronic condition management, mental health conditions, workplace injuries, and general medical concerns. The final clinical decision rests with the matched professional based on your individual assessment.
