What is Trimovate?
Trimovate is a specialized combination cream that provides triple-action treatment for infected inflammatory skin conditions. It’s particularly useful when there’s uncertainty about whether an infection is bacterial, fungal, or both, while also treating the underlying inflammation.
Book an online consultation if you have infected eczema, persistent skin inflammation, or skin conditions that haven’t responded to single-ingredient treatments. Our GPs can assess whether Trimovate’s combination approach is appropriate for your specific skin condition.
What is Trimovate used for?
- Infected eczema
- Infected dermatitis
- Secondary bacterial or fungal skin infections
- Inflamed skin conditions with mixed infections

- Intertrigo (skin fold infections)
- Post-surgical wound infections (superficial)
How does Trimovate work?
A combination cream containing clobetasone butyrate (mild steroid), oxytetracycline (antibiotic), and nystatin (antifungal), providing anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal effects simultaneously.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Trimovate contain three different medications?
The combination treats inflammation (steroid), bacterial infection (antibiotic), and fungal infection (antifungal) simultaneously, making it ideal for infected inflammatory skin conditions.
How long can I safely use Trimovate?
It should not be used for more than 7 days without medical review due to the steroid content, which can cause skin thinning with prolonged use.
Can I use Trimovate on my face?
It can be used on the face under medical supervision, but with extra caution as facial skin is more sensitive and absorbs medication more readily.
What should I do if my skin condition gets worse?
Stop using Trimovate and contact your GP immediately, as worsening may indicate the wrong diagnosis or an allergic reaction to the treatment.
